DeSantis, Outside His Bubble, Gets Eviscerated In Debate
It's painful (and hilarious) to watch him try to figure out how his face should look.
Florida governor Ron DeSantis has been mimicking Donald Trump for a few years. Hand gestures, playing the invisible accordion, even standing stiffly and awkwardly, like he’s just pulled himself upright for the first time and has no idea what to do. Trump is alledgedly annoyed at DeSantis’s “stealing” his mannerisms.
Similar to Trump, DeSantis is lost when he is forced to go outside his comfort zone — to leave his bubble and react to the outside world and attempt an impersonation of a human being. He doesn’t know how to act, he gets flustered, he panics, and he gets angry. During his recent debate, DeSantis failed to adapt and was eviscerated by Charlie Crist, who was relaxed, prepared, and affable.

After Desantis calls Crist a “worn out old donkey I’m looking to put out to pasture,” Crist responds by pointing how out Desantis likes to call people names and bully people, like when he yelled at little kids to take their masks off at a press conference.

Desantis says it’s wrong to teach students that the US “was built on stolen land” because it isn’t true.

What we saw from Desantis last night is what close observers in FL already knew. He is only comfortable in carefully controlled, scripted environments with people who won’t push back or dissent. He is the most protected, babied, insulated Governor in America. ❄️ ❄️ ❄️
