A few isolated tracks for a Friday evening:
This guy — Jeremy Bares — has posted videos of himself playing both Keith Richard’s and Mick Taylor’s main guitar parts for ALL of Exile on Main Street! It’s mind-blowing. He’s playing along with the record’s 18 songs (his guitars — as many as three on a song — right up front with Jagger, et al. in the back) and then we have the same videos, but with his guitars only. His tone and playing are remarkably accurate. And he’s got a much cleaner mix than Exile, so you can really hear what all’s going on. (You can click on his name for other Stones stuff, including re-creations of Mick Taylor’s solos from a couple of well-known 1972 bootlegs. Seriously.)
And:
And . . . would you like to hear the chorus from Toto’s “Africa” . . . played continuously for an hour? I heard it twice. It’s about 22 seconds, so that works out to 163.6 times over 60 minutes.
