Monetary Awards In Police Brutality/Murder Cases Should Come Out Of Police Pensions (Not From Taxpayer Money)
Would the complete loss of a pension make violent cops think about their psychopathic actions?
I forgot to mention something in yesterday’s post about the sickening commentary offered by the evil racist pro-murder fuckbags at Fox.
All monetary awards to victims of police brutality (or their families) should come from the pensions of the police officers involved. Right now, taxpayers like you pay those settlement awards. That’s wrong.
I have no idea how to force the actual murderers to compensate the families of the people they murdered rather than having uninvolved citizens get stuck with the bill, but the current arrangement needs to change yesterday.
There are already similar laws in place. For example, if a criminal writes a book about his crimes, the victims’ families are allowed to argue that they should receive a percentage of the book’s profits. In New York, the law is known as the Son of Sam law.
Maybe — maybe — if an officer knew he would lose his entire pension if he beat the shit out of someone for no lawful reason (and he had maybe read about it happening to other cops) — maybe — he would think twice and keep his psychopathic urges under control. Maybe.
